I do understand why some people are skeptical at first. You’re perhaps thinking about buying a hypnosis download that promises to change something about you such as reducing anxiety, helping you overcome a phobia or sleep better. It might sound too good to be true.
So, Do They Work?
Do hypnosis downloads actually work? The honest answer is: Yes, hypnosis downloads work for most people. So let’s take a look at how and why they work and what could cause them to not work. What makes them work? I’ve been a clinical hypnotherapist for 19 years and I have seen how hypnosis downloads help people make real and lasting changes in their lives. I have learned what makes them work and what makes them less likely to work well.
What Happens When You Listen to a Hypnosis Download?
A properly done hypnosis download will begin with an induction where you are guided into a deeply relaxed state. When this happens it makes your mind more relaxed and receptive to hypnotic suggestion. Your conscious mind takes a back seat as your subconscious mind becomes more receptive. Your subconscious mind is where habits and automatic reactions live, so this is the part we want to influence with hypnosis.
Keys to Success
One key to success using hypnosis downloads is repetition. You can gain significant benefits from just one listen, but if you are working in a problem like anxiety or panic attacks for example, repetition just builds the positive effects much more. When I was working full-time with clients in my hypnotherapy practice, I found that many clients had deep rooted issues they wanted to deal with, and as much as I emphasized and repeated important suggestions in a hypnosis session, I wanted to try to get even more repetition of the most important hypnosis suggestions, but without excessive sessions.
Why I Started Creating Hypnosis Downloads
I started creating hypnosis audios to help gain repetition of important hypnotic suggestions and metaphors. I believed audios designed to be listened to over and over would be a powerful tool. I started creating my audios for clients long before I began selling them online. At first when I offered the audios to clients, I wasn’t absolutely sure how well they would work. I wondered if the repetition would be overkill. I was pleased and surprised that they seemed to work really well and my clients loved the audios.
My First Hypnosis Download
I created my first online download (stop blushing) back in 2011. It has since been remastered and better music has been added! When I first starting giving these to my clients I was really surprised how well they worked. It seems the convenience factor makes a massive difference, and the benefit of repetition is clearly powerful.

Working on making a change by using hypnosis is like exercising a muscle, the more you do it the stronger or better it gets. Hypnosis Downloads Can be More Effective Than in Person Hypnosis
My clients would often tell me how, not only was the download (or CD) helping solve the problem they were working on, but it had add on benefits such as reducing stress and helping them sleep better. The downloads (and CDs) seemed to be more effective than the hypnotherapy sessions because a download or CD was like have dozens of therapy sessions. The fact that the content is the same each time only makes it more powerful and more effective.

- You really want to change
- You listen often (ideally daily at first)
- You are open minded and believe it might work
- You make time for it and find a quiet place and try to not be disturbed.
What’s Really Going On?
If People Say a Hypnosis Audio Doesn’t Work – What’s Really Going On?
Effort: if you are expecting instant powerful results with little effort or persistence – such as listening once, it may not work so well. If you analyze it and don’t give it a chance to work you may not get such good results. Sometimes people start off with a good intention but they can’t be bothered, get distracted or lose interest in the objective – they may listen once, perhaps twice and then give up.
Lack of Motivation: Sometimes they just don’t want to make the change. Example – someone buys a quit smoking download as a gift for their son partner or friend, but that person is not ready to quit.
User Error: Occasionally people feel like nothing happened and question whether they were in hypnosis at all, they may then not believe it can help and stop using it. What is frustrating is when people think they have fallen asleep when they have actually gone into a deep hypnotic trance. This happened in my practice so many times, where the client would open their eyes and not know 40 minutes had passed.
Deep Hypnosis: Sometimes people think there’s no content about the subject on the audios because they went so deep into hypnosis they missed it. This is frustrating because they may think the product is defective when in fact they’ve had a result that is potentially very powerful if only they had persevered with it.
What I Recommend
A hypnosis download should address an issue that you really want to work on, so choose one that inspires you. Listen to it daily for 1 to 3 weeks if possible. If you listen to a hypnosis download one to five times, you will likely see some changes and positive results. The changes might be subtle at first but they can be very noticeable too. Hypnosis downloads do work but like anything you have to be consistent and give them a proper chance.
